Comprehensive eye exams
Dr Sushma Patel and Dr Paul Mazur offer comprehensive eye exams at Manasquan Eye Care for adults and children five years of age and older. Our examination evaluates your eye health and if vision correction is necessary. Many eye diseases are symptomless so it is important for everyone to get a yearly eye exam, even if they are not having any problems with their vision. Not only do our comprehensive eye exams assess for glasses, but we also evaluate for glaucoma, cataracts, dry eye syndrome, macular degeneration, diabetes, and other eye conditions than can affect your vision. At Manasquan Eye Care, we strive to treat you like family and provide the highest quality eye care.
Advanced Retinal Health Assessment with EIDON®
To provide the highest standard of preventive eye care, our practice utilizes the iCare EIDON® TrueColor Confocal imaging system—cutting-edge technology that captures high-resolution, panoramic views of the retina. Unlike traditional retinal cameras, the EIDON system combines confocal optics with natural white-light LED illumination to produce true-to-life color images with unmatched detail and contrast. This allows us to examine both the central retina and peripheral areas to detect subtle, early signs of conditions like macular degeneration, glaucoma, and diabetic retinopathy often before symptoms even appear. The process is completely painless, rapid, and typically requires no pupil-dilating drops, ensuring a comfortable exam experience without lingering blurred vision.
Glasses
We know finding the right glasses can be difficult. Our experienced staff will help you find the right frame that compliments your face and have you looking your best. We have a variety of frames to choose from and can even have your glasses ready in the same day under certain circumstances. Please call us for more information.
Contact Lenses
At Manasquan Eye Care, we provide patients with a variety of contact lenses ranging from soft, hard, astigmatism, and multifocal. We work extensively to find a lens that delivers the right comfort and meets your visual needs. We provide one on one training courses to new contact lens wearers, teaching them the proper techniques for insertion and removal of contact lenses.
Dry Eye Syndrome
Dry eyes effect people of all ages and can be worsened by various conditions such as Sjogren’s Syndrome, Rheumatoid Arthritis, post LASIK surgery, contact lenses, and meibomian gland dysfunction. We offer the latest therapy for dry eye syndrome to improve discomfort and increase relief. While eye drops offer temporary moisture, our practice targets the underlying cause of irritation with MiboFlo Thermoflo®, a non-invasive, in-office thermal therapy. The MiboFlo system delivers continuous, soothing warmth (108°F) paired with a gentle massage across the outer eyelids. This comfortable, spa-like treatment liquefies clogged, hardened oils and restores natural glandular function, allowing your eyes to produce healthier, longer-lasting tears without downtime or discomfort. Make an appointment to see if you are a candidate.
Myopia Management
During childhood and adolescence, a child’s eyes grow rapidly, often causing their prescription to steadily increase year after year. Our evidence-based treatments—including multifocal contacts, specific prescription eyeglasses, and prescription atropine drops—are specifically designed to slow down eye elongation and stabilize prescription changes. By taking action early, we help keep your child’s vision clearer while significantly reducing their long-term risk of developing sight-threatening conditions later in life, such as retinal detachment, glaucoma, and macular degeneration.
Glaucoma
Glaucoma is a leading cause of blindness for people over the age of 60. This can often be prevented with early treatment. Glaucoma is a disease that damages the optic nerve causing vision loss. At Manasquan Eye Care, we have state of the art equipment to evaluate for and manage patients with glaucoma. It is important to get a yearly eye exam so that glaucoma can be detected early.
Macular Degeneration
Age related macular degeneration is a leading cause of severe vision loss in adults over age 50. We offer the latest technology and therapy in evaluating patients for macular degeneration. It is important to have an annual eye exam to observe for any changes.
Cataracts
Most patients over the age of 55 have cataracts developing. A cataract is when the natural lens in the eye starts to become cloudy and can impair your vision. Symptoms of a cataract include blurry vision, decreased intensity of colors, increased glare, difficulty seeing at night, and frequent changes to your prescription. We evaluate patients of all ages for cataracts and also provide care before and after cataract surgery.
